چکیده

The evaluation of potential ecological risk aquatic sediments associated with the presence potentially toxic elements (PTE) determines its degree danger on native biota. In this work, V, Ti, Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Cd, Sn, Hg and Pb in superficial is explained three different areas Lake Maracaibo: El Tablazo Bay, Strait Maracaibo lake itself, through a multi-guideline approach (elemental enrichment (enrichment factor, contamination degree, pollutant load index geo-accumulation index), sediment quality guidelines assessment code). PTE levels ranged from < 0.025 to 176.722 mg·kg−1 DW, an overall proportion V > Ti Zn Cr Cu Ni As Cd Se Sn. concurrent effect biota was Bay Maracaibo. constitute medium high estuarine This mainly due area. represents latent toxicity hazard for biological communities other organisms.

Potentially Toxic Elements Contamination in Sediment, Surface and Pore water of Maharlu Saline Lake, South - West Iran

Maharlu Lake, located in the SW of Iran, has acted as a sink for various wastewater discharges in the last few decades. This study aimed at assessing potentially toxic elements (PTEs) distribution in sediment, surface and pore water samples of Maharlu Lake. To achieve that, the samples were collected from each compartment and the total concentration of PTEs (Al, Fe, Sc, Cr, Co, Ni, Zn, As, Sb, ...

Study of contamination, sources and health risk of potentially toxic elements in dusts of Tehran’s elementary schools

Concerns about dust contamination with potentially toxic elements are especially important in environments such as schools (particularly elementary schools) because children are more vulnerable to contaminants than adults. Therefore, due to the diversity of air pollution sources in Tehran, the present study was conducted to determine the severity of pollution, origin and health risk assessment ...

Evaluation of stream sediment contamination by potentially toxic elements around mining and farming areas (SE Nigeria)

In this work, the concentrations of the potentially toxic elements in stream sediments in SE Nigeria were assessed for pollution monitoring in mining, quarrying, and farming areas. The levels of iron, molybdenum, vanadium, copper, lead, zinc, nickel, cobalt, manganese, chromium, barium, and beryllium were determined. The concentrations of the elements were in the order of Fe > Ba > Mn > Cr > Zn...

Distribution, sources and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu, China

The distribution, sources and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu were studied. Results showed that the measured heavy metals had varied spatial distribution patterns, indicating that they had complex origins and controlling factors. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed that the total phosphorus and the loss on ignition were positively correlated with the mea...

Evaluation of Potentially Toxic Elements Pollution Indices in Rangeland Northwest of Chadegan city (Isfahan Province)

Abstract Today, the pollution of Rangeland soils by various destructive pollutants has become one of the human-environmental problems. Lacking proper management of organic matter discharge can also increase the concentration of salts, heavy metals, and pathogenic microorganisms. In this study, to investigate and measure the concentration of toxic elements, 128 soil samples of Chadegan region w...
